Earlier this year, Meta introduced Channels on WhatsApp. Since then, Channels have received several changes and updates along with new features to offer better user experience. Recently, Channels on WhatsApp received the ability to forward updates from channels and now the company has started rolling out advanced search filters for Channels.
Advanced search filters for Channels now rolling out
WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp users on both Android and iOS are now receiving the new advanced search filters for Channels via the latest version of the app. Users can install the latest version available to get the new advanced search filters in their app. However, it’s a gradual rollout and is currently available in select regions only. We expect it to become widely available in the coming days.
What is advanced search filters for Channels
As a part of the new advanced search filters, WhatsApp has removed the existing filter options from the app. Instead, users now get more refined search experience. With this, WhatsApp now let users filter channels from their own country, most active, popular and newest channels.
This entire change makes using Channels on WhatsApp much easier as it allows users to find the channel of their choice easily and quickly without much effort. Moreover, it also allows users to personalise the channel search experience as per their preferences.
Do note that WhatsApp hasn’t rolled out Channels in all regions. It is currently available in Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Singapore, and Ukraine. In fact, WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed details about wider rollout yet. However, Mark Zukerberg has confirmed that WhatsApp Channels will be made available in more countries soon.
