2023 was a big year for WhatsApp, with a slew of new features for users. One of the new features is Channels, which lets creators share photos, videos, text, and links with their followers in a one-way broadcast. However, one key thing that the Channels feature didn’t have until now was the ability to include polls.
Now, WhatsApp is testing the ability to create polls in channels as part of its latest WhatsApp for iOS beta update, version 24.1.10.76, as reported by WABetaInfo.
It’s worth noting that this feature was rolled out to beta testers on Android last week. This addition makes it easier for channel owners and admins to gauge interest in something specific, gather feedback, and interact more intuitively in the channel feed.
To see if you have the feature, open the chat attachment menu in your channel. WhatsApp also lets you limit polls to a single choice by turning off the multiple answers option.
In addition, the voting process is anonymous, and channel creators cannot identify who has voted for a particular category or condition, ensuring the confidentiality of votes. This creates a worry-free space for channel followers to voice their opinions and vote for a specific topic without concern.
Coming to widespread availability, the feature has already begun to be rolled out to WhatsApp beta users on both iOS and Android. A stable build containing the feature for all users may be released soon.
In other news, WhatsApp users will be able to create your own stickers—all within the app. With this feature, you can edit existing stickers by selecting the ‘Edit Sticker’ action. You can also create stickers from your images. In addition, users will be able to remove the background of an image without using third-party tools or native iOS and Android features. This feature was spotted in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.72 and is currently available only to limited beta testers.
