WhatsApp changing UI design, people might fail to recognise app: Here are the details

WhatsApp is seemingly changing the User Interface (UI) design of the app and some people might fail to recognise it once the changes are made. While youngsters might not have an issue with this, people who are not good with apps or phones will likely take time to adjust to the redesigned UI of WhatsApp. The latest beta version of the messaging app hints the same as WhatsApp has removed green colour and changed some elements in different areas. Here is everything you need to know.

According to the screenshot shared by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp will be making changes in the UI of the messaging app. It shows that the navigation bars such as Status, Chats and other tabs will be shifted to the bottom side of WhatsApp. You will also notice that WhatsApp has given a new space to the Communities tab. The company is also removing the green colour from the upper side of the app, as you can see in the app.

The green colour will still remain there, but with a minimalist approach. WhatsApp’s logo will turn green and the message button in the lower right corner will also have the same shade. You will be seeing new filter options on the top of the chats. These include All, Unread, Personal and Business. These filters will likely make it easier for people to quickly find out some messages. The exact functions for this are unknown, but WhatsApp might allow people to mark chats in Personal or Business sections.

When you select a particular filter, then it will turn green, as shown in the screenshot. Additionally, WhatsApp also appears to be adding a profile icon on the top of the app and it will retain the search bar icon as well as the camera icon on the top. The app will have a completely white colour with no distinguishing lines between chats, which is also the case in the current version.

The new redesign has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.16 update. The new UI features updated Material Design 3 UI elements and the revamped design is still under development. This also means that WhatsApp could make more changes to the app in the coming time to make it look modern and fit the needs of users. Once everything is fine in the beta update, the new UI design will likely be rolled out for all WhatsApp users. You can stay tuned to India Today tech for all the latest updates.
