Reliance has released the Reliance JioBook laptop in India, featuring a sleek design and running on the JioOS operating system. Priced at Rs 16,499, it is one of the most affordable laptops in the market compared to other brands. The JioBook offers 4G LTE support, a lightweight design, and comes bundled with proprietary apps and free cloud storage.
Reliance’s much anticipated Reliance JioBook laptop is finally available in India. This a new iteration of the original Reliance JioBook of last year, though the notebook is still designed for the masses. The laptop features a sleeker design and continues to run on the JioOS operating system. The laptop also gets 4G LTE support, allowing users to be connected to the internet even on the go.
The new JioBook carries a sticker price of Rs 16,499, making it one of the most affordable laptops on the market. Even the most affordable Chromebooks in India by HP and others cost around Rs 20,000. The sale will begin on August 5 via Amazon and Reliance Digital online and offline stores. Here are 10 things you need to know about Reliance’s super affordable laptop.
-Reliance has clarified that the Reliance JioBook is a Reliance retail product and not a Reliance Jio product. It means the laptop won’t be available on the Jio store online, despite the “Jio” tag in the name.
-The laptop comes in a blue shade with the Jio branding on the lid. Reliance is flaunting the laptop’s lightweight design. It weighs barely 990 grams.
-A lightweight design also suggests a compact design. It features an 11.6-inch compact anti-glare HD display. The screen still has thick bezels, though it is expected at this price point.
The laptop has support for 4G connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi. Despite running on custom software, the JioBook supports standard trackpad gestures. There are also over 75 keyboard gestures.
-Speaking of the keyboard, the JioBook comes with an “infinity” keyboard, which means the keys stretch to the corners of the laptop. This design is likely implemented to make the most of the available space without compromising on the size of the keys.
-The new Jio laptop is equipped with an octa-core processor and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. Reliance claims users can easily carry out daily tasks.
-It offers 64GB of storage, which is expandable up to 256GB with an SD card.
-Being a Jio product, the JioBook comes bundled with proprietary apps like Jio TV and JioCloud games. Users can also learn coding languages (Java, Python, and Pearl) with JioBIAN — a Linux-based coding software. It is unclear whether the laptop supports Microsoft apps like Office and PowerPoint.
-Port options include USB-A, HDMI and audio jack.
-Reliance also offers free cloud storage of up to 100GB with Digiboxx with the JioBook laptop.
