There are a few crucial personal finance-related deadlines that fall in the month of June one should be aware of. Here is a list of six money deadlines in June 2023.
PAN- Aadhaar linking deadline Last date to link PAN and Aadhaar was extended to June 30, 2023.
“In order to provide some more time to the taxpayers, the date for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June 2023, whereby persons can intimate their Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for Aadhaar-PAN linking without facing repercussions,” the CBDT press release on the deadline extension stated.
Who has to link PAN with Aadhaar?
“Under the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961(the ‘Act’) every person who has been allotted a PAN as of 1st July 2017 and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar Number, is required to intimate his Aadhaar to the prescribed authority on or before 31st March 2023, on payment of a prescribed fee,” said CBDT.
“Failure to do so shall attract certain repercussions under the Act w.e.f. 1st April 2023. The date for intimating Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for the purpose of linking PAN and Aadhaar has now been extended to 30th June 2023,” it added.
Applying for higher EPS pension deadline
EPFO has extended the deadline for applying for a higher pension from EPS for the second time. Previously, the Supreme Court imposed a four-month timeframe from the date of the verdict (November 4, 2022) until March 3, 2023. However, EPFO’s implementation of the Supreme Court’s order was postponed.
EPFO has extended the deadline for applying for a higher pension from the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) until June 26, 2023.
The most recent deadline extension gives eligible employees more time to consider and apply for a higher pension from EPS. Many employees were having trouble applying for increased pensions.
Furthermore, while submitting the form, they must confirm that all of their EPF accounts are merged into a single Universal Account Number (UAN) and that their service records match the EPFO data.
Free Aadhaar update deadline
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)has given Aadhaar holders a provision to update details in Aadhaar online of free, emphasising the interests of the people first and benefiting millions of Indians. The free service in being offered for three months, from March 15 to June 14, 2023.
