Aadhaar Update To New Driving Licence Rules To Bank Holidays: Check Key Changes To Take Place In June 2024

Citizens across India are preparing for a wave of rule changes coming into effect on June 1, 2024. The changes are going to be related to new driving licence rules, Aadhaar card updates, PAN-Aadhaar linking, LPG cylinder prices, and bank holidays in June 2024. Here are each changes during the month.

New Driving Licence Rules

Getting a driver’s licence is about to get easier. The new regulations allow Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to conduct driving tests at private training schools. This move aims to streamline the process and improve efficiency. For many, like Maya, a recent graduate who dreaded the RTO hassle, this is a welcome change.

Aadhaar Card Update: A Minor Tweak

Users can update their Aadhaar card till June 14. They can simply update their Aadhaar card online. However, if they choose to do it offline, Rs 50 per update will be charged.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: Higher TDS from June 1 if Not Linked

May 31 is the last date to link your PAN-Aadhaar. The Income Tax Department on May 28 issued a reminder, urging taxpayers to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar by May 31, 2024. The I-T department, in a post on X, said that those who fail to meet the deadline will face a higher rate of tax deduction at source (TDS).

“Kind attention taxpayers, please link your PAN with Aadhaar before May 31st, 2024… Linking your PAN with your Aadhaar by May 31 ensures you don’t face higher tax deduction/ tax collection under Section 206AA and 206CC of the Income Tax Act, 1961, due to an inoperative PAN for the transactions entered into before March 31, 2024,” the income tax department said in a post on X on May 28, 2024.

LPG Cylinder Price Fluctuation: Watch This Space

LPG cylinder prices will be updated on June 1 as it happens 1st of every month. In May 2024, oil marketing companies reduced the prices of commercial cylinders, and it is anticipated that they may lower cylinder prices again in June. Additionally, as with every day, changes in petrol and diesel prices are expected on June 1.

Bank Holidays in June 2024

Banks will be closed for 10 days in June 2024. This includes regular weekends (Sundays) and both the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. There will also be closures for regional holidays like Raja Sankranti and the national holiday of Eid-ul-Adha. To avoid an unnecessary trip, double-check the bank holiday schedule before heading to the branch.
